Les eurocrates auront-ils raison des politiques ?

Will the European technocrats overcome the politicians ?

[Euros du Village]

It is said that a nation always gets the government it deserves. The former Greek Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou tried to manage the unmanageable. After the markets and EU officials put pressure on his government, he lost his domestic support. PASOK (the Greek Socialist party) could only propose a never-ending austerity to its supporters and fellow citizens. After a pseudo-psychodramatic referendum on the country’s position in the Eurozone, the Greek people will be led by a largely-coalitioned government for a few months, in an attempt to satisfy the silent financial backers. Under the leadership of a technocrat (they seem to be all the rage nowadays), socialist and conservative leaders (the latter being the opposition !) will strive to apply a policy that is, objectively, inapplicable.
As for the presence of far right leaders in this government, it is astonishing that institutional Europe has so quickly forgotten its democratic values.
